This Privacy Policy describes how CamScout (“the App”) handles information.

1. Overview

CamScout does not require an account. The App helps users scout destinations with live and timelapse webcams (Windy), route cam nodes, map exploration tools, GPS field stamps, and local notes. The App is intended for markets outside Mainland China and uses an English UI.

2. Information We Access

• Location: When you allow location access, the App uses your location to show nearby places, stamp Field photos, support toolkit features (such as compass / traffic context), and set route starts. Location is used on-device for App functionality.
• Camera: When you take Field photos, the camera is used to capture images you choose to create.
• Photo Library: When you choose to save or pick photos (including local panoramas for the 3D image viewer), the App writes to or reads from your photo library only for that action.
• Advertising & measurement: The App may show ads (app-open, interstitial, and native) via Google AdMob and mediated partners. Advertising identifiers and related device/ad interaction data may be processed for ad delivery, frequency control, fraud prevention, and measurement. Where required, App Tracking Transparency (ATT) and/or consent prompts will be shown before tracking or personalized ads.
• Analytics & attribution: The App may collect limited product-usage and attribution signals (for example install source, campaign parameters, and feature interaction events) through third-party SDKs listed below, to operate, improve, and measure the App and advertising performance.
• Diagnostics / configuration: Remote configuration and technical signals (such as app version, locale, and network-related status needed to load content or ads) may be processed to deliver features and control ad inventory safely.

3. Data Storage

Scout cards, route reports, field stamps, and related notes are stored locally on your device. We do not operate a CamScout user account system in current App versions (including 1.1.0).

4. Third Parties

Depending on your region, permissions, and consent choices, the App may share or allow processing of information with:

• Windy: Webcam imagery and related content. Use of Windy services is subject to Windy’s terms and attribution requirements. The App displays attribution such as “Webcams provided by Windy.”
• Google AdMob / Google Mobile Ads: Advertising (IAA), including ad serving and measurement. Mediated demand partners (for example Pangle) may receive ad requests through Google’s mediation stack under their respective policies.
• Meta (Facebook) SDK: May be used for advertising-related measurement / advertiser identifiers where permitted by platform rules and user consent.
• AppsFlyer: Mobile attribution and marketing analytics (for example install attribution and campaign performance).
• Firebase (Google): Analytics events and Remote Config used to operate product features and advertising configuration.
• Apple MapKit / system services: Maps, Look Around where available, and system location features.

Each provider processes data under its own privacy policy. We do not sell personal information as a standalone product.

5. Children’s Privacy

The App is not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent age in your jurisdiction).

6. Your Choices

You can control Location, Camera, Photos, and Tracking permissions in iOS Settings. Limiting tracking or denying permissions may reduce personalization or certain features, but core browsing of publicly available webcam content remains available where network access is allowed. You may also contact us to ask questions about this policy.

7. International Availability

The App is distributed on the App Store outside Mainland China.

8. Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date will change when we do.
